4 Reasons why you should advertise salary

Does your company advertise the salary of jobs?

TalentHub ran a poll this week asking our audience if they would be more inclined to apply for a job if the salary was advertised. A massive 94% said yes.

In such a competitive job market, it’s important to stand out from the crowd and have a hook to catch jobseekers’ attention. This is something we are taking note of and reviewing ourselves going forward.

We wanted to tell you 4 reasons why you should advertise the salary of roles.

1. It is one of the first things job seekers look for

When looking at a job posting, compensation and benefits are the primary things that most candidates are looking for. It is a motivating factor and one that shouldn’t be easily ignored. In fact, LinkedIn has said that 70% of professionals will want to hear about salary in the first message from a recruiter. So cut out the middleman and include it in the job posting. It will save you time while simultaneously giving vital information to potentially interested candidates.

2. Candidates will find out anyways

Even if you don’t advertise the salary of a role, a candidate will just ask a friend or look on Glassdoor to gain an understanding of the potential salary. Be up-front and show transparency. Remember, salary is important but isn’t always the deciding factor.

3. Diversity, equity and inclusion

Being transparent from the get-go is a great first impression. Companies who want to scream and shout about how inclusive and open they are but then don’t want to share the salary of a job they are hiring for, can come off quite ingenuine. Advertising the salaries of your job openings is a great trust builder.

4. Stand out from the crowd

In such a competitive market, it’s extremely important to try and stand out from the crowd. The best candidates are very selective about which jobs they apply for, so why not try to excite where you can? Being upfront and honest about a position, including what the compensation is, can give you a competitive advantage in a saturated market.

We understand why so many companies decide not to advertise salaries but in this candidate-driven market, we have to think outside the box.
