We are a single source dairy farm, which means Killadoon Milk comes solely from our farm’s jersey-cross herd. This is what guarantees the integrity, traceability and the quality of our milk. Our milk is available from vending machines at selected stockists across the island of Ireland.
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced, organised and highly motivated Operating Manager to join our growing team. Someone who brings a fresh mind set to improving operational processes. A person looking for a challenge and a step up to mid-senior management.
You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our pasteurisation plant, ensuring efficiency and productivity, and will work closely with staff in production, quality assurance, sales and logistics. You will also be responsible for creating and implementing strategies to improve processes, reduce costs, and increase product quality and quantity, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and supporting members of our  team, while working very closely with the founders of the business to ensure their vision is achieved for the business. This is a great opportunity to  get into a growing business early.

Key responsibilities include:

•            Managing employees in the operation of the pasteurisation unit, transportation of product to stores and return of excess product back to processing unit.
•            Food safety management and liaising with external Food Safety Consultant. Updating SOP's and implementation of same.
•            Management of testing requirements as per FSMS and paperwork for regulatory bodies ie. DAFM and HSE (EHO).
•            Routine checks onsite at processing unit and offsite at retail units i.e. cleaning/efficiency of processes.
•            Monitoring progress of sales / any issues arising for the retail units manager/point of contact.
•            Point of contact to liaise with retail units regarding technical issues arising with vending machines and contact with third party repair contractors.
•            Developing new business opportunities with other retail units for expansion.
•            Consumer interaction and assistance at vending machines at initial set up.
•            Setting up informational display units at the retail stores where machines are situated.
•            Organising new machine deliveries to new stores to include procurement, follow up lead times, wrapping etc.
•            Research and development of business plan for milk bottling/packaging for distribution to cafes:
               ?    Expand network of distribution. Establishing same on the farm, SOP's and plant equipment required.
               ?    Management of distribution/deliveries
               ?    Liaise with shops/cafes after initial intro from owners of Killadoon Milk
               ?    Get payment systems setup and monitor payments weekly with our existing accounts department.
Your background
 
  • You have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an operations role in an agri-food, fermentation, drinks or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Experience in budgeting, resource allocation, and cost control in a production environment
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of effectively managing and motivating teams
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and achieve business goals in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Highly organised, structured with strong attention to detail.
  • High level of energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative and commitment.
  • A team-player with an ability to develop
